Eretmocerus-System - parasitic wasp of whiteflies that thrives at high temperatures

Robust parasitic wasp that also host feeds

  • Effective control of greenhouse and tobacco whiteflies - Trialeurodes vaporariorum and Bemisia tabaci
  • Prefers tobacco whitefly – targets both species but shows preference for Bemisia tabaci
  • Highly efficacious - targets different pest larval stages through parasitism or host-feeding
  • Highly efficient – female Eretmocerus adults can parasitise up to 150 pest larvae
  • Prefers high temperatures – remains effective above 30 °C/ 86 °F
  • Robust - less sensitive to pesticides than other whitefly parasitic wasps.

How this highly efficient wasp operates:

  • Female wasps parasitise older larvae – will actively search for whitefly larvae and lay eggs under them
  • Wasp host feedson young larvae – preferssecond pest larval stage.
